Disposable dispensing needle blunts, syringes, needle syringes, dispensing needles, bottles and equipment are sold non-sterile and bulk packed primarily for the industrial and institutional dispensing markets. These products are commonly found in most production, maintenance and laboratory operations where assembly and/or lubrication activities occur. The commodity nature of these products makes custom variations using identical components (pointed cannula, alternate tube sizes, different capacities, etc.) uncompetitive without high volumes. However, the use of metal hubs allows for cost-effective custom medical needles to be manufactured at a fraction of the time/money needed for an identical disposable product.
FDA, NIOSH and OSHA Joint Safety Communication: Blunt-Tip Surgical Suture Needles Reduce Needlestick Injuries and the Risk of Subsequent Bloodborne Pathogen Transmission to Surgical Personnel
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued a Joint Safety Communication May 30, 2012. This document strongly encourages health care professionals to use blunt-tip suture needles as an alternative to standard suture needles when suturing fascia and muscle to decrease the risk of needlestick injury.
Regular Point (Style 2054-42) serger needles are used for all woven fabrics. This needle will penetrate the fabric threads of woven fabrics. For use on SINGER ® model 14U serger/overlock machines.
Ball Point (Style 2054-06) serger needles are used for sewing on knits; the rounded tip allows the needle to pass between the fabric threads by dividing the them. (Using a regular point needle on knit fabric will result in skipped stitches and fabric damage, causing it to curl.) For use SINGER ® model 14U serger/overlock machines.
Chromium (Style 2022) serger needles are recommended for SINGER ® model QUANTUMLOCK ® 14T and ULTRALOCK ® 14SH serger/overlock machines.
